All About Robin

Singer. Born in Dunn, NC on February 1, 1965.

As a young child, Robin began singing with his siblings in a family gospel group. In high school, he sang in chorus and small ensemble. While in high school, he auditioned for and was accepted into the NC Governor’s School in choral music in Winston-Salem, NC.

After graduating salutatorian from high school, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he sang in the men's and mixed glee clubs.  In 1988, he graduated from the UNC School of Pharmacy.

Following college, he sang for 10 years with the award-winning male trio, Set Free. After Set Free disbanded, Robin began singing as a soloist, releasing his first solo (inspirational) album in 2007 appropriately entitled “A New Direction”.

In 2010, Robin teamed up with Crissy Oravits and Melanie Horton to form a new multi-genre musical trio called the “Nutones”. The Nutones released their all original debut album in 2011. This album included their debut single, “Even Angels Get Burned”.

In the summer of 2011, the Nutones were honored to share the stage with American Idol winner Scotty McCreery for his Homecoming Concert in Garner, NC. Later that year, Robin, Crissy and Melanie formed MRC Songwriting & Music Publishing, LLC to help promote their increasing repertoire of original music. In addition to singing inspirational/gospel music, Robin crossed over to secular music and venues.

In December 2011, Robin released his first solo Christmas album, “Sounds of Christmas: Volume 1”. This album featured the single, “North Star” written and published by MRC Songwriting & Music Publishing (Robin, Crissy and Melanie).

In 2014, Robin released his third solo CD entitled "Long Journey".

2021 promises to be another busy year for Robin. He will be completing his doctorate degree from Shenandoah University then returning to Music and More Studio in Wilson, NC to begin work on a new album of timeless secular classics produced by Crissy Oravits.

Stay tuned for more great music!
